Digital Nomad Visa for Greece
The Digital Nomad Visa offers non-EU professionals the right to reside in Greece while maintaining remote work for international employers.
A Legal Pathway for Remote Professionals
Greece has, in recent years, positioned itself as a strong contender among countries that serve as attractive destinations for digital nomads. Accordingly, a special residence permit is being introduced for digital nomads who choose Greece as their country of residence, facilitating their legal stay and fostering an environment conductive to remote work.
Who Is Considered a Digital Nomad?
Initially, the term “digital nomads” refers to third–country nationals – whether self-employed, salaried employees or independent professionals – who relocate and reside temporarily in a different jurisdiction, engaging in remote work through digital means for employers or clients located outside Greece.
Nationalities Applying for the Greek Digital Nomad Visa
Since the introduction of Law 5038/2023, the number of applications for Digital Nomad Visas in Greece has increased by more than 300% — with a high approval rate and strong interest from American and Israeli applicants.
Application Requirements and Restrictions
To initiate the application process, eligible individuals must submit their request to the competent Greek consular authority in their country of residence. The application must include all required supporting documentation, such as proof of employment, bank account statements, and evidence of sufficient income. Once the national visa is granted, applicants may enter Greece and, if eligible, apply for a two-year renewable residence permit before the visa expires.
Furthermore, it is important to emphasize that this visa does not grant the right to undertake employment or engage in any form of economic activity in Greece, either for the applicant or for any accompanying family members.
Our firm provides comprehensive legal assistance throughout this process, ensuring that all documentation complies with the applicable legal framework and that each step is completed in accordance with Greek immigration law.
